A Dream Come True

Back in January I had an audition. In February I had a callback. It's now almost September and yesterday I received the most exciting news in my career thus far, but I'll get to that in a second...

2018 is flying by and the past 8 months have been an absolute whirlwind.  Between auditions, bookings, moving, traveling and having a full knee reconstruction surgery (which has actually engulfed the last 4 months of my life) this summer has been one I'll never forget.

Regardless of the hustle and bustle and being in a wheelchair for the majority of my summer, I am grateful for every little detour life has thrown my way. I'm not thrilled that my accident happened, but I've learned to alter my thinking, my perspective and you know what, it could've been worse.

  1. I'm thankful it happened when it did because for the most part the industry is dead-slow in the summer. Even though there's never a good time to get hurt, my accident happened at the absolute BEST possible time for ME!

  2. I'm also LUCKY because I got to have my family out here with me me, for a whole entire MONTH this summer! My Dad, my Mom and my sister all flew out here to take turns taking care of me. My injury gave me quality one on one time with each of them and that is something I will cherish FOREVER!

  3. I also started writing since I have had to spend so much time in bed or on the couch! Thanks to having to slow down, I have found a new passion for writing and have been able to create my own projects...

  4. Being stuck at home has allowed me to really focus on myself and my career.

So, for those of you wanting to know how my knee is...It's getting better day by day. I can finally walk and that's all I can do, but at least I can walk on my own now. Physical therapy is 2xs a week and is already strengthening my whole leg. Though I still have some atrophy, I can tell I'm on my way to a full recovery.

As far as my work life goes there's some pretty unreal things in the works and I could not be more ecstatic! You ready for this???

I recently found out that I booked the lead role in Disney's newest animation project! I am on cloud 9 and am absolutely thrilled for this opportunity! It's crazy! That audition in January turned into a callback in February and that callback turned into a BOOKING 8 MONTHS LATER

So to my fellow actors, don't pass up that audition, don't give up, keep chasing your dreams and always leave your best work out there because you never know if it'll come back around. Every booking is a victory and I celebrate them all. As an actor a booking is a form of validation for myself, that I'm doing what I'm meant to be doing. This industry is competitive, cut throat and being an actress may just possibly be the hardest career choice to pursue, but here I am. And I wouldn't trade this for the world and it's just the beginning.

To my agents who have become family...thank you, for being my home away from home!

And to my INCREDIBLE family...I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU ALL! Thank you for believing in me, for loving me unconditionally and for being mine!

Can't wait to be able to share more with you all! I was able to dig up some pictures I took from my callback in February! For now, please send prayers, happy thoughts and positive energy my way and for this project!

XO,

Kailey
