Finding My Inner Ninja

I never thought I'd be one for video games...so I'd always pass on those auditions. You’re probably thinking, “Why on EARTH would she just pass up auditions?” Well, It’s because I made this thing up in my head that I wasn’t “fit” for video games. I had this whole stereotype in my head about video games being all war/soldiers and being specifically male driven but BOY, WAS I WRONG! I finally got a video game audition that I felt that MAYBE I could be right for it and for the first time ever I was like okay, she's SO cute, why not!? So I submitted and BOOKED IT!

But this post isn’t about booking… It’s about the fact that instead keeping myself in this “box”, I went for something outside of my comfort zone. I went outside of what I thought was my wheelhouse and as a result, I’m now adding another skill set to my wheelhouse. It feels good to have taken a chance and that going against my “normal” had a positive result. Like they say, “You’ll never know if you never try”!

I encourage you to use this experience as a reminder to never sell yourself short of what you’re actually capable of doing. Being an actress and HUMAN BEING in this social media driven world, it’s so easy to get caught up in our heads about how we look to others, asking ourselves if we’re enough or if we can do it too, ultimately backing down from any challenges or possible goals we may have. So, I challenge you to do something out of your comfort zone this week. Who knows, you may be surprised…

XO,

Kailey
